On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in the Debbie Lewis Municipal Chambers (located within Hanahan City Hall), the Hanahan Planning Commission will host a public meeting to discuss its proposed draft of the 2018 Comprehensive Plan Update. At this meeting the public will hear a brief presentation from staff on the revised plan, as well as have the opportunity to ask questions or provide feedback.
This document, as evidenced by the title, is an update to the ten-year comprehensive plan, adopted by City Council in 2012. Per S.C. Code § 6-29-510(E), the state of South Carolina requires that municipalities update their respective plans every five (5) years in order to keep the comprehensive plan up-to-date and to re-evaluate any elements, if necessary.
For this particular update, all data was made current concerning demographics, economic development, housing, etc. Additionally, significant projects, company relocations and new public facilities that were completed since 2012 were applied to this document.
