The Hanahan Recreation and Parks Department continues to monitor the COVID19 virus and the effects it has on programs and classes offered by our department.
We have currently postponed all activities at the gymnasium, amphitheater, senior center and athletic fields. This is for the protection of all participants and members of our city.
Our goal will certainly be to resume all programs and activities as early as safely possible. Staff is working on plans to continue and/or begin these programs as soon as possible.
As for our youth baseball/softball/t-ball season. We will be formulating a plan to begin the season in May. This of course will be determined based on the status of the virus and contingent on businesses and schools returning to normal operating procedures.
This delay will of course cause an adjustment to the way we schedule and complete the spring season. We will attempt to begin practices May 2nd and allow a two-week practice schedule. Plans would be to begin games in mid-May. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS TENTATIVE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
As for our 2020 summer day camp, registration will now begin on Monday May 4th. Again, this is subject to change and contingent on our operating status.
We will continue to monitor the situation and keep everyone informed as to when we will be able to resume all programs. The safety and well-being of our participants is the most important consideration in our efforts to resume.
