City Operations moved to OPCON1

The City of Hanahan has changed operating status to OPCON1 in preparation for Hurricane Florence and potential landfall.  City leaders have been meeting discussing operating plans, staffing levels, etc.  We will release more information as we have it.

The City of Hanahan has changed operating status to OPCON2 in preparation for Hurricane Florence and potential landfall.  City leaders have been meeting discussing operating plans, staffing levels, etc.  We will release more information as we have it.

OPCON2 in the City of Hanahan Emergency Operations Plan is defined as

Disaster for emergency situation in effect; maximum preparedness level; full activation of the EOP if not already accomplished. Incident Action Plan required for all operational periods. The City Administrator is responsible for the complexity analysis, briefings and the written delegation of authority.

The City of Hanahan has changed operating status to OPCON3 in preparation for weather event Florence.  City leaders will be meeting today at 4:00pm to discuss further emergency and staffing plans.

Update:  9/8/2018 6:41pm —

We will change status from OPCON4 to OPCON3 in preparation of weather event Florence on Sunday 9/9/2018 at 8:00 am.

OPCON3 is defined in the City of Hanahan Emergency Operations Plan as

Disaster or emergency situation likely or imminent. Full or partial activation of all Command and General Staff positions; or execution of an appropriate plan for the specific hazard e.g. Hurricane Plan, etc. Incident may extend into multiple operational periods. Incident Action Plan required for each operational period.

In preparation for Tropical Storm Florence and the potential impact the storm could have to our community, the City of Hanahan is now operating on our Emergency Operations Plan at OPCON4 (possible threat).

OPCON4 is defined in the City of Hanahan Emergency Operations Plan as

Possibility of an emergency or disaster situation that may require a limited or partial activation of Command and General staff, if needed. No written Incident Action Plan is required, but a documented operational briefing will be completed for all incoming resources.

Please monitor the storm closely and ensure your home and family have the essential items needed.
