Coming Soon: Hanahan Athletic Complex Walking Trail
The Recreation and Parks Department is pleased to announce the development of a new walking trail to be located at the Athletic Complex and Bettis Boat Landing.
The department has been awarded a $100,000.00 grant from South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism through the Recreational Trails Program. The City of Hanahan will be providing a $25,000.00 match for a total budget of $125,000.00.
This trail will extend from the existing picnic shelter located on Railroad Avenue and wind through the woods behind the athletic fields and end at the boat landing. The trial will be an 8 ft. wide asphalt trail approximately .5 mile in length.
Future phases of this trail will include a board walk to connect the athletic complex and boat landing to the amphitheater and the walking trails located at the amphitheater park. Further future plans will call for an additional picnic shelter and park benches to be located at the boat landing.
We are excited to continue to seek ways to improve our recreational opportunities for the citizens of Hanahan.
Projected completion of this portion of the project is scheduled for late spring or early summer of 2015.
