Downtown Revitalization Project Starting

We are excited to report that construction for the Downtown Revitalization Project will begin Thursday, September 6, 2018.  Thank you for providing input and feedback over the last year and a half to help develop the plan for this project.  As previously communicated, work will be in the right of way only and will involve the area between Remount Road and Sledge Street on Yeamans Hall Road.

The contractor will be required to provide traffic control when needed to minimize the impact on properties throughout the corridor and to aid in traffic flow.  We have visited and studied similar projects throughout the area and state and are excited about the benefits this will bring to not only the property owners in the Town Center District, but throughout Hanahan.  The addition of on street parking, additional and improved sidewalks, landscaping, and buried power lines with new lighting and poles will create an atmosphere conducive to helping this area and our city thrive.  The city has also recently purchased the properties across from the city gymnasium and has already begun the process to have those structures removed to allow for further improvements in the area.

Drainage and paving are estimated to be completed by 12/24/18.  Substantial completion date for the overall project is 3/24/19.  An aerial image of the corridor has been included on the back of this form and additional images and updates can be found on our website at cityofhanahan.com.  Please contact me directly at 843-576-5250 if you have any questions or concerns throughout this process.

Sincerely,

Johnny Cribb
