Introduction

The Hanahan Recreation Department Soccer program is offered for boys and girls aged 4-16 years old.

Registration fee’s are $30 for residents and $50 for non-residents (provided neither state nor national affiliations have rules against non-resident registration).

Upon registration, participants birth certificate is required.

Game shirts are provided with registration fee’s.

Spring registration begins in June and runs through August.

Registration is only accepted at the available registration dates.  You may register online by visiting our Registration Portal.  To register in person, you may visit the Mabeline Gym at 3100 Mabeline Road, Hanahan.

2017 Fall U6 Soccer Rules

Equipment: Shin guards are mandatory to play soccer at any level. Soccer cleats are recommended.

Playing Format: 5v5
No jewelry can be worn or candy in mouth while playing.

Rules are basic: Let them have fun while you help them improve their motor skills and communication skills. Please refrain from yelling or screaming at the children. This will NOT be tolerated. Teach them the basic kicking and how to work together with passing.

Rules:
1. No use of hands on the ball. There is no goalie in the U6 age group.
2. No elbowing or pushing. If a child continues after he/she has been warned they will be benched.
3. Out of bounds ball may be put back into play without stoppage or whistle by the COACH ONLY.
4. NO SCOREKEEPING: THE ONLY “GOAL” IS TO MAKE EVERY CHILD FEEL LIKE A WINNER AND TO HELP INCREASE CONFIDENCE.
5. Game time will be four- five(5) minute quarters with a five (5) minute halftime.
6. Game ball should be a size 3 soccer ball.
7. Substitute at end of quarters or any injury or anytime a ball is kicked out of bounds. Players should be encouraged to take a knee whenever they feel injured. The injured player may be substituted out of the game.
8. If need be, a team can play shorthanded if they do not have enough players. The team with the most players should loan a player to the opposing team just for fair competition and play.
9. Behavior by both coaches and players will be watched and monitored. Parents conduct will be monitored as well. Please, as you tell the kids, be respectful towards others.
