Zellous was able to apply many things he learned from being in the military. One thing he learned was to separate his personal feelings and get to know every single child that he encountered and find out why they were there. He taught himself to try and deal with the problem that the child was having versus their behavior. That alone showed the children that he really cares, and no matter how much trouble they would get into there was always a someone who would listen to them.
