Sgt. Ricardo Perry, started his law enforcement career at Hanahan Police Department in February of 2007. After working on patrol and in investigations for three years, he became the School Resource Officer at Hanahan Middle School in 2010. While working there Sgt. Perry had an incredible ability to communicate and relate to many of the young men.
He started the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Club mentoring program also known as DGC, while at the school. The program offers a multifaceted approach to mentoring for young men in grades 3rd through 12th grade. DGC focuses on engaging the young men in a consistent and intentional manner all throughout grade school until their high school graduation.
Sgt. Perry was promoted to the rank of Sgt. Where he oversees the youth services division along with the SROs for Hanahan Police Department. His primary responsibility now is to continue engaging the city’s youth to encourage positive character and servant leadership. He is also responsible for supporting the city’s SROs and their roles while in their assigned school.
Sgt. Perry had been recognized and has received a number of awards over the years for his dedication to developing young people. In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family, watching movies and sitting near water.
