Jermaine Johnson

Lieutenant Johnson known to all as “Jay Jay”, was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to South Carolina in 2001. Lieutenant Johnson later began his career in law enforcement in 2003, with the Estill Police Department, in Hampton County South Carolina.

Lieutenant Johnson graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in 2003 and has worked as a patrol officer, traffic officer, interdiction officer, with extensive training in traffic enforcement, DUI enforcement, and leadership classes. Lieutenant Johnson joined the Hanahan Police Department in January 2016. While working at the Hanahan Police Department, Lieutenant Johnson has worked in the patrol division, and quickly moved up in rank to his current position, from his hard work, excellent leadership skills, and his love to train and teach his peers.

Lieutenant Johnson is currently the Patrol Commander. He oversees the day-to-day operation of the patrol division, which consists of managing personnel, scheduling, personal equipment (uniforms, issues items), and assisting the Chief of Police in administrating the Police Patrol Budget.

Lieutenant Johnson is a certified Specific Skills Instructor and a Standardized Filed Sobriety Instructor. He is also a graduate of the FBI Command College.

During Lieutenant Johnson’s time off he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, loves to fish, watch TV, cooking, and has a background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
