Courtney Soler

Biography

Courtney Soler moved to Charleston in her freshman year of high school from Michigan.  After graduation, she attended the College of Charleston with the goal of becoming a law enforcement officer.  After graduating with a degree in accounting, she joined the City of Charleston Police Department as an officer.  While at the Charleston Police Department, she became their first Budget Analyst, managing a $40 million dollar budget.

In 2010, Courtney became the City of Hanahan’s first Finance Director.  It was during that time that Courtney discovered that Hanahan was the perfect place to raise her family.  Courtney and her husband, Guillermo have three children, Judah, Quinn, and Viviana.  They currently attend Bowen Corner Elementary, Hanahan Middle, and Hanahan High School.

In 2016, Courtney accepted a position as the Chief Financial Officer of the Gibbes Museum of Art.  During her time there, she enjoyed being part of such a historical and cultural institution; but her heart was still in Hanahan.  In 2020, Courtney returned to the City of Hanahan as the Chief Financial Officer and in 2022 was promoted to City Administrator.

Courtney’s vision for the city is to promote a positive and innovative work environment for staff and to encourage a culture that is centered on our citizens and community.  The values of integrity, inclusivity, kindness, accountability, and transparency are showcased in each department, and are truly what makes Hanahan a special place.
